At the Shire of Murray, we are working to make Murray an outstanding place for community, lifestyle and opportunity. Part of this is to ensure our rural charm is preserved and we actively seek ways to protect our natural and heritage assets.

Therefore, the Shire is preparing a Foreshore Management Plan (FMP) for the land on Cooleenup Island surrounding Cooper’s Mill.

The area is subject to coastal inundation and projected to be impacted by coastal erosion by 2030. In addition, Cooper’s Mill is listed on WA’s State Register of Heritage Places and is acknowledged by the Shire as a priority for protection.

To inform the FMP, we are inviting interested community members to attend a workshop at 5.30pm on Wednesday 11 June at the Ravenswood Community Centre, Jones Ln, Ravenswood.

The workshop will be an opportunity for the community to learn about the FMP and provide local knowledge that will assist in developing the best possible outcome. During the session, you will have the opportunity to discuss the project with the project team and identify areas/assets of social, environmental, infrastructure and heritage value.
